Sold me $162 out of stock item and I have to fight for a refund. Never again.
Non-existent customer service. I placed a 6-item order in early May. Five of the items (prints on canvas and metal) were delivered on-time and were perfect. The remaining item (a framed print) never arrived, even though I had been given a specific delivery date (May 23-24th).
After me contacting Shutterfly MANY times and being told that my order was simply delayed, I finally learn that the frame for my print is out of stock, so that item is unavailable. Shutterfly charged me in full a month ago and NEVER ONCE reached out to me to tell me I wouldn't be receiving my $150+ item.
I've used this company many, many times over the years, but don't think I will in the future. If anything goes wrong with an order, it's simply an unorganized mess.
**Editing to follow up: Shutterfly offered me a gift certificate for the value of the out of stock item. I told them I did not want a gift certificate, I wanted a refund to my credit card. The customer service person said no problem, that the refund would take 5-7 days. Hours later, I receive an auto-email from Shutterfly indicating a gift certificate for $162.31 has been issued to my Shutterfly account as a refund. It looks like I now have to fight to get my $$ back for an item they never should have charged me for because it was never even in stock.
Edited again: After talking to customer support *again*, I have finally received a $162 refund back to my credit card. Overall, very disappointed in this experience w/Shutterfly -- the bottom line is that I had to initiate contact repeatedly to find out why I wasn't receiving an order that had a promised delivery date in May. Surely a company this large can put tools into place to ensure a *proactive* approach to order issues. When I have printing needs, I will look for other providers in the future.
